  • The heart of this remodel is the deep soaking tub, positioned beneath a large window that floods the bathroom with natural light. Designed to be a place of relaxation, the soaking tub is equipped with air jets for a spa-like experience. To maximize space and maintain a clean, modern aesthetic, the shower is designed as a sleek “wet room” adjacent to the tub. The 6-foot-wide space accommodates the soaking tub comfortably, while a 5-foot window provides beautiful views of the lush outdoor surroundings, allowing light to pour in, enhancing the sense of serenity.

Many homes built in the 1970s often have compact bathrooms with limited natural light and storage. To address these limitations, we doubled the size of the original bathroom and reconfigured the layout to incorporate more efficient use of space. The large window above the soaking tub not only brings in light but also provides a calming view of the outdoors, enhancing the overall peaceful ambiance.

  • The adjacent bedroom was also extended to create a more open and airy feel. Two walls of large windows bring the outside in, filling the room with natural light and making the space feel expansive. The room’s layout was carefully designed to ensure both privacy and a connection to the surroundings, creating a peaceful retreat perfect for rest and relaxation.

The interior design selections, including the furniture, color palette, and decorative touches, were all carefully chosen by the homeowner to reflect their personal style. The result is a cohesive and inviting space that blends comfort with elegance, further enhancing the serene atmosphere of the remodeled bedroom.

To complete the transformation, a spacious walk-in closet was added, combining functionality with luxury. This added storage space makes the newly remodeled bedroom both practical and elegant, offering ample room for clothing and accessories.

  • The large walk-in shower, designed as a "wet room," sits adjacent to the soaking tub, creating an open and cohesive space. Full-length windows overlook the pool cabana, offering views and natural light from both the tub and shower. To ensure privacy, interior shutters were installed that allow for adjustable light control, giving the homeowners flexibility while maintaining a relaxing atmosphere. If the bathroom had faced the front yard, we might have opted for higher windows or glass block to increase privacy.

Safety was a top priority in the design, particularly in the shower. A curbless shower design eliminates tripping hazards, and small tiles were used on the floor to improve grip. The client also chose a textured pale green tile for the shower walls, adding a calming, soft touch to the overall design. To keep water contained in the wet room, we recommend glass panels with a door, though a floor-to-ceiling shower curtain on a ceiling track would also work well.

  • The spacious vanity features dual sinks and large mirrors, creating a functional and stylish element in the bathroom. The design allows for easy access and ample counter space, perfect for daily routines.

  • The exterior lanai, conveniently accessed through a door directly into the bathroom, leads to the pool area, creating a seamless flow between indoor and outdoor spaces. The addition’s windows open up the space, allowing the bathroom to feel connected to the warm sunshine.

  • The expansive windows on the exterior of the addition are a striking feature, ensuring the rooms are bathed in light while offering a clear view of the landscape outside. This thoughtful design integrates the natural surroundings with the home’s interior, enhancing the overall sense of peace and tranquility.
