LAKEFRONT GREEN HOME REMODEL

Cozy, efficient, and award-winning home, perfect for retirement, without making it bigger, just better

Project #09-09
Completed Spring 2012

Location
Marion County, FL

Built by
Adolf Construction of Ocala, FL

  • The Clients wanted a nice open floor plan that would let them live mostly on one level after they retired. They were looking for the most cost efficient way of lowering their future energy bills. And they didn't want a bigger house, just a better one.

  • Using the Not So Big® remodel philosophy - quality not quantity - we designed this remodel without increasing its size - except adding a new porch. The 1,700 s.f. home plus garage and porches remains modest with 2 master suites, situated at either end of the house for privacy. All the main rooms now have a beautiful view of sunsets over the lake.

  • Green features, energy efficiency, and low maintenance are a great combination for a home to spend your retirement. Gold level Florida Green Home certification from the Florida Green Building Coalition, Inc. and Energy Star Qualified Home with HERS index of 60. Silver winner of 2012 Master Design Awards for Energy-efficient Retrofit. Regional winner of 2015 Chrysalis Awards for Whole House Remodel $500k-$1M.
